Royère, Jean

(1902 - 1981)

Jean Royère was a French interior architect and designer. He started to work as an apprentice for a cabinetmaker to learn the craft in 1931. His first succes came soon after, in 1934, when he designed the interior of the restaurant of Hotel Carlton on the Champs-Élysées, Paris. This was the start of a long, international career, with clients like King Farouk of Egypt, King Hussein of Jordan, and the Shah of Iran. His designs were often luxurious, elegant and playful.
