Elkan, Michael
Coffee tables
United States

A studio crafted coffee table by American woodworker Michael Elkan. The table is made of a star-shaped wooden base with six feet and has a 7 cm (2.8") thick maple burl slab as a top. Elkan strove to create simple and functional pieces that showed the beauty of the wood. The top of this piece is made from a single tree, to create a harmonious flow. Michael Elkan (1942–2014) was an American designer, craftsman and artist. After a career in the fashion industry, he started his woodwork studio in Oregon in 1980. He ran his studio until 2002, when he went on to explore other creative paths, like architecture. His body of work includes boxes, furniture and sculptures. We have several other items by Elkan available.
