A solid oak desk by Jean Touret for Atelier Marolles. The desk has four drawers with sculptural wrought iron handles. The late Jean Touret began a career as a painter and then turned towards woodcarving. All his life he continued his aesthetic research by experimenting with unconventional use of a variety of materials: wood, paper, copper, zinc, bronze, iron, plexiglass, ceramics and concrete.
The desk comes with the original picture taken by the professional photographer Jean-François Doré, a friend of Touret, of this very desk being exhibited at the castle of Blois.
