A pair of Mexican lounge chairs with woven cord seating, attributed to Michael van Beuren. They have a wonderful patina and are in an excellent condition. American-born, Bauhaus-trained Michael van Beuren moved to Mexico in 1937, where he started designing and manufacturing furniture. His designs combined traditional Mexican influences with Modernist forms. Together with fellow Bauhaus-student Klaus Grabe, he started the 'Domus' company. After Grabe moved to the US in 1942, the name of the company changed to 'Van Beuren'.
